OUR JOURNEY

This is our family's journey- the story of our daughter's fight with cancer. Along the way, we will have some tears, lots of love, and even more prayers going up to heaven. We know that our Heavenly Father is aware of us. We know that he will help us fight, fill our hearts with peace, and send angels to give us aid. We send praise to HIM. Join us in this battle. This battle of courage, determination, and most of all faith in God that all is well and will be well.
This is where I will record my feelings- raw, real, and unfiltered. Welcome all.

Birthday Girl.

One year ago today,
April 2, 2012,
this little girl entered the world.
She had a mind of her own from the start.
After putting mommy through 18 hours
of natural labor, she decided to make her appearance.
She was so beautiful.
So tiny.
So perfect.
So wonderful.
Our first little girl.
Our precious Evalette.
She had wanted to make an entrance
and make an entrance she did..
almost 4 weeks early.
She had to fight for her life from the moment
she was born.
First breathing problems,
but she fought hard.
Then a partially collapsed lung,
but she fought harder.
Told to plan to be in NICU for a while,
so she fought even harder.
And she won.
She showed them what she was capable of.
To the doctors surprise she was able to go home,
exactly one week after her birth.
Though small and petite, she was strong.
She grew,
and grew, and grew.
She got stronger
and stronger,
and stronger.
Now once again on her birthday,
one year later,
she is fighting for her life again.
This time it is a battle against her own body-
a fight to beat the cancer that has overtaken her body.
She is strong,
she is ready.
So today we celebrate our Evalette.
Our Warrior Princess.
Our FIGHTER.
Happy Birthday, sweetheart!
FIGHT HARD!

Evalette's birthday was good.  The hospital staff was great to make it special for her.  They sang to her, brought her a banner, and gave her gifts.  She loved the attention.  Since she is on droplet, she can't go out of her room. And kids 14 and under can't go in the ICS, so we face timed it.    The boys, grandma, and I stayed out in the "family room" area, while James, Shar, and Evalette were in her room.  The boys enjoyed watching her devour her cake and were excited for her birthday.  She was very tired, so she didn't open presents, but she enjoyed the cake!!!  It was a good day.  We are so happy that Evalette is still here with us and apart of our family. Happy Birthday Day, BABY!!!

Things About Evalette:
She loves to say "Mama"
She holds out her hand, palm up, and wiggles her fingers...it means hold me.
She loves mashed potatoes, spagetti, crackers, her daddy's smoothies, and her mommy's breast milk.
She loves to look out the window and wave at the people going by.
The mirror and her are great friends.
She is almost walking...we work on it everyday when she is feeling up to it.
She adores her brothers.  They are her world.
Visitors are always her new best friends.
She will dance if you ask her to...swaying back and forth, back and forth.
She uses her blue eyes to her advantage, the doctors melt when she looks at them.
She is a doll and the sweetest baby girl ever!

***I have tons of pictures to post...but it is late.  So tomorrow, maybe, hopefully I will get them up!
